Description

Candidate is responsible for building and installing metal framework of structures by cutting, shaping, and welding iron and steel components according to blueprints, often using cranes to lift and position heavy materials, while ensuring proper alignment and structural integrity.

Responsibilities
  • Must follow ALL OSHA, company and job site safety rules.
  • Reading blueprints: Interpreting construction plans to understand the layout and specifications of the steel structure. 
  • Cutting and shaping metal: Using tools like shears, torches, and grinders to cut and shape iron and steel components to size. 
  • Welding: Joining metal pieces together using welding techniques. 
  • Lifting and positioning: Signaling crane operators to lift and precisely position steel components. 
  • Alignment and verification: Ensuring all structural elements are properly aligned and level using plumb bobs, lasers, and levels. 
  • Fastening components: Securing steel pieces together using bolts, welds, or wire.
  • Rebar installation: Bending and placing reinforcing steel bars within concrete forms. 
Qualifications
  • Physical strength and endurance: Ability to lift and maneuver heavy materials. 
  • Manual dexterity: Precise hand-eye coordination for cutting, welding, and fitting components. 
  • Problem-solving skills: Adapting to changing conditions on the job site 
  • Blueprint reading: Understanding technical drawings and plans 
  • Safety awareness: Following safety procedures when working at heights and with heavy equipment
