Safety Coordinator
Description

Candidate will assist in maintaining a safety culture within the company to help reduce and eliminate injuries and incidents, improve safety performance and awareness and sustain compliance with all OSHA and MSHA regulations.

Responsibilities
  • must follow and support all Tri-Lakes Services, OSHA and job sites safety rules and regulations
  • must be able to provide technical assistance and coaching to employees
  • must ensure all personnel wear required safety equipment
  • must educate and correct PPE infractions
  • must perform hand and power tool inspections
  • must assure a safe working environment on millsite property by conducting weekly safety and housekeeping audits
  • must perform constant observations of all surroundings to identify hazards and mitigate those hazards
  • must provide support during ES&H audits and assessments
  • must assure JSA's are performed and followed by all company and OSHA standards
  • must audit, track and organize JSA's (Job Safety Analysis)
  • must perform and submit safety audits on assigned maintenance tasks during mill operations, shutdowns and outages to Safety Manager
  • must inspect confined space and hot work permits when necessary to assist with work site compliance
  • must manage and conduct all aspects of Toolbox Talks for crew members
  • must create lessons learned and best practices with construction team
  • must help out with and be backup for evacuation checklist
  • must help with Courage to Care card entries
  • must participate in all incident investigations
  • must issue equipment as needed
  • must assist with all training and orientations
  • must assist with any safety concerns as needed
  • must alert Safety Manager of any dangerous conditions
  • must perform calibration of equipment and inventory used in conducting air monitoring
  • must perform fit test for respirators and gas monitoring
  • must educate personnel on the use of fire extinguishers and hot work procedures
Qualifications
  • bachelor's degree in a safety related field is preferred or a minimum of 3-5 years of Construction Field Safety experience, which should include an OSHA 30 in construction or general industry
  • have technical knowledge and competencies appropriate to position such as ES&H policy, work planning, and hazard identification and control
  • have well-developed analytical skills
  • have experience establishing and monitoring performance goals, targets, objectives and milestones
  • have experience in planning and conducting investigations, assessments and casual analyses that lead to effective and efficient solutions
  • be detailed oriented
  • have the ability to prioritize when presented with multiple tasks
  • having Competent Person Training in scaffolding, fall protection, trenching, confined space and/or mobile equipment is a plus
  • bilingual proficiency in English-Spanish translation is a plus

  • must have excellent communication skills, verbally and written, organization skills and the ability to function within a project team
  • must be able to work after hours and/or weekends, when needed
  • must be able to work in all types of environments, including inclement weather
  • must be able to work at elevated heights
  • must be able to climb multiple flights of stairs and occasional ladders
  • must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time
  • must be able to lift and carry 50lbs
